One major reason for Firestone’s popularity is its ideal location midway between Denver and Fort Collins with spectacular views of the Northern Front Range. Another reason is its temperate climate with an average high of 87 during the summer and 45 in the winter, with only 14 inches of precipitation per year.
One major reason Firestone has received national recognition is because of its focus on outdoor recreation, offering 15 parks and 9 miles of trails that connect to the Colorado Front Range Trail system. It also is the only town that can claim a state park within its 56 square mile boundary- St. Vrain State Park features 152 acres of ponds ideal for birders, anglers, campers and hikers. The town also touts the award-winning Saddleback Golf Course, a Regional Sports Complex and the Carbon Valley Recreation Center. Numerous outdoor fitness events are offered throughout the year including the Carbon Valley Half Marathon & 5k in May, Community Softball Tournament in June and Relay for Life in July.
